The bolted flange joint assembly (BFJA) guidelinesdescribed in this document apply principally to pressure-boundary flanged joints with ring-type gaskets thatare entirely within the circle enclosed by the bolt holesand with no contact outside this circle.1 These guidelinesmay be selectively applied to other joint geometries. Byselection of those features suitable to the specific serviceor need, these guidelines may be used to develop effectivejoint assembly procedures for the broad range ofsizes and service conditions normally encountered inindustry.
